Good Match, Bad News

Well, it's just been one of those weeks. Ups and downs, all week long, but nothing too serious. Until tonight. More on that later.

First, last night I was in Bowling Green, KY for my first match in quite some time. It was a benefit show for a 4-year old (I believe, may have been 5) that needs a liver transplant. It was an honor to be a part of this show for that reason. It was originally booked as Hard Rock Higdon .vs. All-Star .vs. Myself, but my brother couldn't make this show, so it ended up being All-Star and myself in a singles match. The match wasn't bad at all, but could've been better but the ring had been broken earlier in the night. When they fixed, they used jacks to hold the floor of the ring in place... yeah jacks... ring was incredibly stiff. All-Star's Game Over... I couldn't have kicked out if I'd wanted to, it knocked the wind out of me completely, and I couldn't move.

But on to the bad news. You ever had one of those days where it just seems like the bad just keeps piling up? Today has been one of those days. In a span of twenty-minutes I found out that my grandfather has leukemia, and that my father might have lung cancer. How awful is that? Back-to-back, all in one day. It's almost too much for me to handle. Usually, I am very long winded, but right now, I just can't think of much to say. All I ask is that, if you don't mind, is to keep my father and grandfather in your prayers because I know I will.

Thank you very much,
Trent

Finally, Time For A New Entry

    <lj:music>"Soul To Squeeze" - RHCP</lj:music>

I've been working TONS lately, which has kept me from doing a lot of things including wrestle, and update my Live Journal. Well, I just found time to do one of those things. I'm going to get back to wrestling again soon, May 21st I believe, and I'm looking forward to it big time.

A few days ago, I almost cancelled the booking after hearing about Chris Candido. I know when a wrestler, or any famous person for that matter passes away, it seems that the cool thing to do is to talk about all the good things, and how great of a person they were. Doesn't really matter who, it's just the way things go. But with Candido, I don't think anyone is putting on an act. From what I've read, everything I've read is genuine and heartfelt, which makes his passing even that much more difficult to deal with. I never wrestled him, never met him, but that's not what's important. Chris Candido was an amazing performer, and I've been a fan of his for quite some time. I even watched WCW (ewww!) for "Hard Knox" Chris Candido, because I knew his segments would be entertaining. I don't get TNA TV, but I have been watching their PPVs, and I saw the leg injury happen, and I immediately thought of the injury to Sid, but thought, "Hey, at least it's not THAT bad." But apparently, I was wrong. Lately, I've been getting most of my Candido-fix from IWA Mid-South and I suggest you all do the same, because he put on a ton of great performance for IWA-MS. Like I said, I never met him, never wrestled him, but for some reason his passing hit me harder than any other that's happened in wrestling since I've been watching. Maybe it's the fact that he'd turned his life around, and was on his way to the top once again. He was clean, healthy, and putting on one great performance after another. He was the 2005 Comeback Story of the Year, and like everyone else has said... it's just not right.

As they say, the show must go on. TNA is still airing shows. IWA Mid-South is still putting on shows. And I realized that giving it up would be the wrong route to take completely. I plan on, as soon as my work schedule permits, to be back to wrestling as often as I can. Working 5-6 days a week, 8-12 hours a day every week... week in, and week out... then coming home and sleeping, and doing it all over again just isn't cutting it. I want to wrestle. I need to wrestle. I HAVE to wrestle.

I know it sounds bad on me, but I THINK my next show is on May 21st, but I'm not sure. It's in Bowling Green for a Joey Houston show. It's a benefit show for a kid that needs a Lung transplant. Joey is hoping to go with a Three-Way with All-Star McStoots, Hard Rock Higdon, and myself... and I'm hoping this works out. We had a Three-Way in Clarkson, KY at the Honeyfest last year, and we had a HUGE crowd for that match, and it was a lot of fun. I'll never get tired of wrestling All-Star, and it's always fun to kick my brohter's ass, so I'm pulling for the Three Way to happen.

You need to watch....

IWA Mid-South Ted Petty Invitational 2004... awesome stuff plus it's Candido's IWA Mid-South return as he beats the dog snot out of Ian Rotten with "Metalhead" Steve Stone

IWA Mid-South 2004 Revolution Strong Style Tournament.... nasty stiff tournament PLUS the funniest match in wrestling history: CM Punk, Ace Steel, Danny Daniels & Matt Sydal vs Chris Candido, Claudio Castagnoli, Nigel McGuinness & Steve Stone That match alone is worth the 20 dollar price tag on www.smartmarkvideo.com Definitely check it out.

Blade Trinity. It's f'n BLADE!!! Need I say more?!?!

My goal in 2004 was to make it to 52 matches, averaging one a week, and I came up very short. Last update made it to match 30, and only three more follow bringing my total to 33 matches. Here are the results:

(31) December 5th, 2004 - TLW - Trent Richards .vs. Mike Lightning

Vic continued to set up road blocks to keep me from getting to him. This time, it was Mike Lightning. I came out for my match unaware of my opponent, and saw Mike Lightning setting in the front row. When I walked by him, he wished me luck, and basically told me to kick Vic's ass. Vic comes out, of course my attention goes to him, and Mike Lightning jumps me from behind. He controlled early on with some old-school offense. Punch, punch, kick. Mouth. Punch, punch, kick. Headlock. Punch, punch, kick. Deep breath. (lol) I start to make my comeback, and drill Lightning with a Superkick. I set up for my (still un-named) Running Diamond Cutter and Vic hits the ring AND me, giving me the DQ win.

(32) December 19th, 2004 - TLW - 14-Man Battle Royal

The final two men remaining would fight in the Main Event with the winner getting a TLW Ironman Title shot the following show. I remember getting chopped like crazy by Randy Royal and Terry Bull, but I got Randy back. Terry was a bit more elusive... plus he got eliminated before I could catch him. Final four was Randy Royal, Vic The Bruiser, Justen Idol, and myself. I dump Randy Royal as we were both fighting to stay in. Randy said I earned his respect and offered a handshake and he pulled me out of the ring. I should've saw it coming, I've seen the WWF .vs. NFL Battle Royal! Vic and Idol won.

(33) December 19th, 2004 - TLW - Trent Richards .vs. Terry Bull

First and foremost, wrestling Terry Bull was a BLAST!!! But... I did completely botch two ARM DRAGS!!! I've been wrestling for four years, and I messed up two ARM DRAGS!!! After the first one, I realized how rarely I throw an arm drag, and I just kinda froze up, and then with the second one, I was so worried about messing up that I messed up. Rest of the match went fine though, went good. I hit the Running Diamond Cutter, but Royal breaks up the pin and I win by DQ.

My record for the winner, after 33 matches, was 13-17-3.... but I'm going to tell you it was 31-1-1... just so I look cooler.

I'm still trying to decide on a name for the Running Diamond Cutter. Just cause it'd be cool to say "Look out for the __________" on the mic, just to hear the crowd go "huh? the what? what's he talking about?" Then hit it and go... THAT, I WAS TALKING ABOUT THAT!!! THAT'S THE ________." I'm leaning towards Rhinoplasty. Just cause it's... Rhinoplasty. Yeah, I think I just named it. So we've got...

Rhinoplasty - Running Diamond Cutter
The Talent Show - Spinning DVD
Quantum Leap - Corkscrew Splash
The Chinchilla - Yakuza Kick
Frog Splash - Frog Splash (can't change the name there)

Anyway, I hope I update this again before 2009... I'll try. Later.

More Match Results - And A Recommendation For A Good Read

I decided to get off my ass and write another update in my journal here, as if anyone is reading this lol. First I would like to point you all in the direction of Hard Rock Higdon's Live Journal. His most recent update is one of the most open, truthful, and hard-hitting entires I've ever read on a Live Journal. He really opened up and said what he had to say with both barrels blazing, and I respect him for that. http://www.livejournal.com/users/hardrockhigdon for a good read, and let him know what you think.

I know a lot of fans read wrestler's journals hoping to read some good shoot comments, and I know that my brohter and I both try to stray away from shooting on people, because neither of us want to burn any bridges in this business, but he finally got fed up and I don't blame him. Hey bro, there is nothing wrong with venting when it's the only way to let your anger out. I loved reading it, both times that I read it, and I really didn't think you had it in you.

You know what sucks really bad.... besides the James The Ref, lol, just kidding James. What sucks really bad is having an entire day off, with nothing to do, and your PS2 decides to quit working on you. Finally had a chance to get my NBA Live 2005 franchise rolling again, and my PS2 stopped reading discs. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Because I don't have the money to run out and buy a new one right now.

It's about time for the big Kentucky-Louisville game, and I'm hoping for a Wildcat win here. I don't know how big of a deal this game is across the state but I do know that it's a big deal here in Grayson County, and the place I work will probably close during the game so everyone can go home and watch it. If Kentucky loses to Louisville again this year, I'll never hear the end of it, so come on guys.

"Ghost Of Freedom" by Iced Earth... if you don't have it, download it NOW! I always kinda liked Iced Earth anyway, but that song has turned me into a fan. Just a suggestion for all of you *coughTWOcough* that read this.

I know it's been out awhile now, but damn, The Last Samurai is a GREAT movie. It's been on HBO for just a few weeks now, and I've already watched it about seven times. I gotta pick it up on DVD soon. Not a big fan of Tom Cruise, but it's a great flick.

Matches # 26-30

(26) September 25th, 2004 - TLW - All-Star McStoots .vs. Hard Rock Higdon .vs. Trent Richards

This was from the free Clarkson Honey Fest show, and we had a huge crowd for this match. Somewhere around 350, if not more, and we decided to go all out for the Main Event. Elimination rules with a 30-Minute Time-Limit. About fifteen minutes in Hard Rock and I couldn't work together anymore so I told him to give All-Star a moonsault off the top, and then pulled All-Star out of the way. About 18 or 19 minutes in All-Star and I eliminated him with a dual submission... AnkleLock from me, Crossface from All-Star. Yeah, he tapped. All-Star and I would fight on to a Time Limit Draw. We had a sudden death, and All-Star ended up hitting his Game Over for the win. Great match.

(27) September 26th, 2004 - TLW - All-Star McStoots .vs. Trent Richards

After the match the day before, Hard Rock and myself worked over All-Star's knee, so going into this match, I went straight to his knee. This match, I honestly feel that this is the best match that All-Star and I ever had with each other because of the story of the match, and the psychology involved. All-Star made a comeback late, but I got him down in a Single Leg Crab as we approached the 20-Minute Time Limit. With about 20 seconds left, he passed out from the pain of the Single Leg Crab, and the ref was forced to stop the match, and I win!!!

(28) October 17th, 2004 - TLW Tag Team Title Match - Something Else (John Noble & Eddie Browning) .vs. The Power Trip (Vic The Bruiser & Trent Richards)

I was nervous about this one. I'd been on several shows with Noble throughout the year but had never been in the ring with him, so I was looking forward to it. Something Else is one of the best tag teams in the state and I'm not one of the best tag wrestlers, but things worked out ok until the top rope snapped on us. Finish saw me bring the belt into the ring and accidentally clock Vic with it allowing Eddie to get the pin and Something Else to get the TLW Tag Team Titles.

After the match, asshole Vic turned on me and crushed my throat with a steel chair. Asshole. And then he repeatedly hit me over and over with the chair, just like an asshole, and wouldn't stop until Simon, Rob, and the crew came out to help me. But then Vic, being an asshole, tried to beat up all of them too, but the asshole couldn't do it. But he sure tried. Yeah, what an asshole.

By the way, I love Vic The Bruiser....... the asshole beats my ass if I say any different.

(29) November 21st, 2004 - TLW - Buckwylde .vs. Trent Richards

Not a bad match considering that neither of us knew we'd be in the ring with each other until like thirty seconds before the match. Buckwylde is really small, so it's really fun to throw him around really hard. Like I said, the match wasn't bad, but I would like to get another chance to have a match with Buckwylde. Vic set this match up as the first of two matches I had to win to get a shot at Vic and the TLW Title. The end came with me hitting a vicious Diamond Cutter.

(30) November 21st, 2004 - TLW - JC Bailey .vs. Trent Richards

My second match of the night, and I got jumped from behind by JC and never really had a chance to get going in this one. JC basically kicked my ass and folded me up really bad on a German Suplex. Crowd 'ooooohed' so it was cool with me. I made a comeback, and even hit the Diamond Cutter on JC, but Vic ran out while the ref was down, and he hit me with his Sky High, and JC got the pin on me after that. After the match, as always, Vic kicked my ass. Yay for me.

Did I mention that Vic can be a real asshole when he wants to be? Cause he can. Seriously.

Yeah so I'm finally caught up on my 2004 matches, what a relief.

Next time I'll be talking about the next TLW show which is going to be the Lethal Lottery show. Legit blind draw, so it should be interesting at least. I hope to see some of you there.

    <lj:music>"Heaven's A Lie" by Lacuna Coil</lj:music>

Yeah I know, it's been a good while since I updated this thing. I would update it more often, but with Christmas around the corner I've been working as many hours as I can, and since I have a lot of people to buy for, I've been doing a lot of shopping too.

The day started off with bad news when I heard about former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrel. When I was told about him, I was pretty much floored. I'd heard a lot about his new band, Damageplan, and since it's Dimebag, of course I was going to check the band out. A friend I work with wanted me to go up to the show in Dayton (if tickets weren't too much) and it's a good thing I didn't go. Even though they won't be reading this, I'd like to send out my condolences to the friends, fans, and family of Dimebag Darrel.

Something really funny happened to me the other day. I was at work, and a guy I work with was getting all pissy with me, so we started mouthing back and forth when the dumbass made a wisecrack about my mom. One he shouldn't have made, and one that I have too much respect for my mother to repeat, and I threatened him to never do it again. So this little (16 year old) punk gets up in my face and, honest to God says the words... "You think I'm scared of you cause you're a big, mean, tough wrestler?" Never before in my life, outside of a wrestling show, has anyone used a line like that on me. I laughed in the kid's face, and I guess he thought I was about to snap because he backed up quick. I told Vic about it in the locker room at the last TLW show and he pretty much jumped my ass when I told him I didn't lay the kid out.

Me: "Yeah, he really said that about my mom."

Vic: "Oh man, that's death right there. Wouldn't even say anything, just kill him."

Oh that Vic, he's a big ol' sweetheart.

Next TLW show... I can not wait for it! We're having one of those Battle Bowl: Lethal Lottery deals that WCW had back in the day. Teams will be drawn at random. Winning teams advance to a Battle Royal. Last two in the Battle Royal face-off at the following show for the TLW Title. I just wish we had two rings like WCW did back in the day for their Lethal Lottery. It's going to be a legit blind draw too. Can't wait for that. Won't know your partner or opponents until you get to the ring. Should make things really interesting, and really fun.

Through the magic of friendship, I've been introduced to some really good bands I'd never heard of recently. If you've never listened to Otep, Lacuna Coil, HIM, or Iced Earth... check them out. Especially Lacuna Coil. I'm a fan of Evanessance, but Lacuna Coil is the band that Evanessance wishes they were. Awesome stuff. And thanks niobei for introducing me to "your music."

Continuing with music, everyone go out, NOW, and buy Green Day's American Idiot CD. Fan or not, you're gonna love it. I've really liked all of Green Day's work, but this CD is twenty times better than anything they've released.

I noticed one the board that someone accused TLW of being like WWE with the title being held up, but if I'm not wrong Sunday still comes BEFORE Monday, right? If something happens on WWE the day after it happens at TLW, how is TLW guilty of copying WWE? It's like someone watching an old WCW tape and seeing The Great Muta and saying.. "Hey!!! He sprays mist just like Tajiri!!!" Just my opinion. And to whoever thinks Vic is getting the title back.... thanks for counting me out :-P.

Vic's gonna kill me... cause I just cut my hair. Not all of it, but a little more than I wanted. About two inches. Maybe I can eat enough rice between now and the 19th that it'll all grow back, but if not, Vic's going to kill me. Just thought I'd let you all know that.

I guess it's time for me to talk about the next set of matches in 2004, matches 21-25.

(21) August 1st, 2004 - TLW - K Lo .vs. Trent Richards

K Lo is probably the most self-critical guy I've ever met. He can go out and have an amazing match, and come back and be upset with himself over anything. It's almost like he doesn't think he's capable of being worth a damn, when in all honesty he's one of the better young guys in Kentucky. I was very pleased with this match, and the crowd was eating it up. K Lo was HUGE over with the crowd. I worked his leg the entire match, and had fun doing it. I've been trying to improve my psychology, and by focusing on his leg for an entire match I can say I think I'm getting better at it. K Lo drilled me with a DDT off the top in this match and I finally saw it on tape and it was NASTY!! Good nasty! K Lo win the match but I don't remember how.

(22) August 15th, 2004 - TLW Tag Team Title Match - Vic The Bruiser w/ Trent Richards .vs. Crazy Skillz w/ The Outlaw

I consider this a match for me eventhough it was Vic .vs. Skillz because Outlaw and I both were off the show with injuries, but I still STARTED the match with Skillz. Tag Titles were on the line and Vic won the match and the titles for The Power Trip.

(23) August 19th, 2004 - TLW - Nigel McGuiness .vs. Trent Richards

I was still hurt, but I wasn't about to pass up an opportunity to climb in the ring with Nigel McGuinness. Nigel is a tremendous talent, and being in the ring with him is an honor. He's also a really nice guy, and doesn't mind talking to you in the locker room to give you advice. I was much more pleased with this match than I was with our first one. This was at the East Grayson County Day festival so the crowd was pretty big, and really loud. Nigel and I were supposed to go the Time-Limit, and into a five-minute overtime, but I re-aggravated my injury during the match and ended up tapping to the Crossface with three seconds left in the 20-Minute Time-Limit. I went 20 with Nigel and held my own!!! I surprised myself.

(24) August 29th, 2004 - TLW - The Power Trip (Vic & Trent) .vs. K Lo and All-Star McStoots

REALLY fun tag match. Vic's always fun to team with, and All-Star and K Lo are always fun to beat the hell out of. We won by DQ, I remember that... because I made a note of it on WordPad, but I didn't make a note of how the DQ came about hehe.

(25) September 12th, 2004 - TLW - All-Star McStoots .vs. Trent Richards

I F-wording LOVE wrestling All-Star. We always try to go out there and better out last effort, and we usually do. I felt this match was really solid, and probbaly my second best with one-on-one ever with All-Star (topped by a match I'll mention in my next update) and one of my better singles matches this year. The finish saw me send All-Star into the corner. When I ran towards him, he did the up and over, and I dropped a chain behind him. Ref saw the chain and thought All-Star dropped it. During the confusion, I blindsided McStoots with a Yakuza Kick (my third ever, and I liked it) and got the win.

I apologize for losing track of the finishes in my matches. I leave myself notes on Notepad, and when I leave off the finish I usually think to myself, "this one was too good to forget" so I leave it as "so and so won by pin (or dq)" and save myself time. From now on, I'll leave better notes. In my next update....

Matches 26-30

(26) September 25th, 2004 - TLW - Trent Richards .vs. Hard Rock Higdon .vs. All-Star McStoots
(27) September 26th, 2004 - TLW - All-Star McStoots .vs. Trent Richards
(28) October 17th, 2004 - TLW - The Power Trip (Vic The Bruiser & Trent Richards) .vs. Something Else (John Noble & Eddie Browning)
(29) November 21st, 2004 - TLW - Trent Richards .vs. Buckwylde
(30) November 21st, 2004 - TLW - Trent Richards .vs. JC Bailey

Thanks for reading.

More 2004 Results and a BIG Weekend for TLW

<lj:music>"Kill The Wabbit" by Ozzy Fudd</lj:music>

I had two TLW shows this weekend. The first one was a free show at the annual Clarkson Honeyfest. Very successful show despite only having a few TLW regulars there. And then on Sunday we were back at the Hornback Auction House, and sadly the free show the night before didn't bring in many new fans. TLW needs a new building... badly. The Honeyfest show opened with a Battle Royal, the winner was to meet me for a shot at my half of the TLW Tag Titles. It came down to All-Star and Hard Rock and I ran in and dumped them both, thinking no winner means no match for me. Instead I met them both in a Three-Way in the Main Event, my 26th match of the year. Elimination match with Hard Rock going first with a Ankle Lock (from me) and a Crossface (from All-Star) for the submission. All-Star and I went on to a thirty minute time limit draw. Match re-started but the re-start was non-title, and All-Star counters a DVD into his Game Over manuever. It's an elevated inverted DDT.

After the match Hard Rock and I jumped All-Star and went after the knee. I drilled his knee three times with a steel chair before help came out for him. Sunday at Hornback's, match number 27 in 2004, it was me and All-Star again, and I win with a single leg crab about 15 minutes in. All-Star passed out from the pain, the little p*ssy. Anyway, that's a short rundown of my matches this weekend. The Honeyfest show drew more than 350 for the Main Event which was an AWESOME experience. Most of the crowd had never seen any of us before but they were red hot for the Main Event. Just amazing. The show at Hornback's drew about the same as it has been, blah.

2004 Results Matches 16-20:

(16)June 20th, 2004 - TLW - Andy Douglas .vs. Trent Richards

My first one-on-one with Andy Douglas, and this guy is good. People ragged on TNA for running with The Naturals as the Tag Champs, but trust me, they're good enouggh for it. Andy and I had a pretty solid match, at least in my opinion. Finish came with a sitout Pedigree by Andy for the win.

(17)June 20th, 2004 - TLW - The Naturals (Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas) .vs. The Power Trip (Vic The Bruiser & Trent Richards)

This was the second time around for all of us on the 20th. Vic had faced Chase earlier with me going up against Andy Douglas. Post match beatdown on Chase by Vic and I led to this tag match. And it was all me the whole way. Vic never tagged in, and I got my ass beat. Bad. I thought the chopfest I had with Vic was nasty, but this one was worse. Andy and Chase beat the living sh*t out of me. No official chop count yet, but it easily topped the number Vic hit me with. I had bruises on my chest for two weeks, on my back for more than a week, and a nasty handprint on my right side for more than a month after this match. No exaggerations at all. I'm pretty sure this one was a No Contest. I know from the beating I took that I earned the respect of The Naturals in this one.

(18)July 5th, 2004 - BBW - Trent Richards .vs. Hard Rock Higdon

This show was part of the Breckenridge County Fair. My first fair show in quite some time and my first match with Hard Rock in over a year. This match wasn't bad at all, and the crowd was pretty fired up. Hard Rock goes for a Sunset Flip and I sit on his shoulders and SUPPOSEDLY grab the ropes for the win. Me, cheat? I think not!

(19)July 11th, 2004 - TLW - Trent Richards .vs. Rob G. Rock

I went after Rob's leg the whole time. Late in the match he goes for a slam, and his knee gives out. As the ref checks on Rob's knee, I kick Rob low and hit an inverted DDT for the win. After the match I put Rob in a single leg and the ref reverses the decision. So I beat up the ref.

All joking aside, the ref in this one deserved to get his ass beat. He no longer refs for TLW because he refused to ref in a referee shirt. Instead, he chose to wear one of the TLW security shirts, and he made himself and any match he was in look cheap by wearing the shirt. He missed counts because he was too busy either marking out to a move, or trying to get the crowd to cheer for the good guy in the match. He's the promoter's son and he thought it gave him the right to do what he wanted in the ring, and he recently found out he was a wrong. He's a good guy, just a complete idiot when it comes to being part of a show. I'm glad he's out of the ring now though. James The Ref is ten times better anyway. Moving on....

(20)July 18th, 2004 - TLW - "True Talent" Trent Richards .vs. "True Talent" Bobby Shields

Bobby came in from Pennsylvania for this show. He uses "True Talent" as well so this match was for use of the name "True Talent" in TLW. Bobby is a really small guy. About my height, but very thin, so he was easy to throw around. Not a bad match at all and the finish was really nice. He came off the top for a double axe handle, and I kicked him low on the way down and hit a spinning DVD for the win.

Next Update:

(21)August 1st, 2004 - TLW - K Lo .vs. Trent Richards
(22)August 15th, 2004 - TLW - TLW Tag Team Title Match - Vic The Bruiser w/ Trent .vs. Crazy Skillz w/ Outlaw
(23)August 19th, 2004 - TLW - Nigel McGuiness .vs. Trent Richards
(24)August 29th, 2004 - TLW - TLW Tag Team Title Match - The Power Trip (Vic The Bruiser & Trent Richards) .vs. K Lo and All-Star McStoots
(25)September 12th, 2004 - TLW - All-Star McStoots .vs. Trent Richards

It's been awhile since I updated this thing. I don't know why, I guess I just kinda forgot it was here. Anyway, I have two shows coming up this weekend. Saturday night it's TLW in Clarkson, KY at the 10th Annual Clarkson Honeyfest. The Honeyfest is a big deal in a small town like Clarkson. They usually air Honeyfest clips on most of the local news stations around here. Anyway, Saturday Night at the Honeyfest I have a match with All-Star McStoots. As always, I'm looking forward to this one. I hope we get a pretty big turnout for this one. Then on Sunday, TLW returns to the Hornback Auction House and I'll be going one-on-one with Simon Sezz. It's been awhile since I've been in the ring with Simon, so yeah, I'm looking forward to this one too. A two-show weekend for TLW, and it'll be interesting to see if any of the Saturday night crowd shows up for the Sunday evening show. It'd be nice to see a bigger crowd in Big Clifty.

Now for matches 11-15 in 2004 for me:

(11)April 4th, 2004 - NEPW - Trent Richards .vs. Nigel McGuiness

This was my first match with Nigel McGuiness, and it could've been better but it wasn't our fault. The ring was all messed up. The ropes were loose to the point that you couldn't even pull yourself onto the apron by grabbing them. And right before we went out we were both informed that they were working on getting some nails hammered down. So there was a chance that we could take a big fall onto a screw. Really fun match though. Nigel wins by hitting a Superkick and then diving between my legs, catching my legs with his feet, in a pin I've only heard called a Superman pin. Just sucks that the ring was so messed up.

(12)April 17th, 2004 - MTWA - MTWA Cruiserweight Title Match - Trent Richards (Champion) .vs. JB Thunder

It seems like everywhere JB and I have worked together, we were thrown into a series of matches. This one was the first in what was supposed to be a long series of matches for MTWA in Tennessee. I came in as the champ, and the crowd was fired up for this show. They LOVE HNIC in Tennessee. This was probably the best match JB and I have ever had together, and in the end he wins with a Swanton. After the match I challenged him to a rematch for the title, and he decided we would face-off in a Last Man Standing match but the match never happened. I don't know why.

(13)May 1st, 2004 - MTWA - Trent Richards .vs. Xander Blaze

This was supposed to be Me .vs. JB Thunder in a Last Man Standing but JB Thunder and Apollo arrived very late to the shows. Actually, they arrived after the show was already over because they got lost coming from another show in Kentucky. We used this match to setup the match with JB, Xander filling in because JB was 'too scared to show up.' Xander had already worked one match that night. We had a nice little match. This kid can take a beating really well. Finish came after he hit a Split-Legged Moonsault. Jailbreak gets on the apron, Xander and Jailbreak exchange words, and Xander then turns into a Yakuza Kick. I win. Yay.

(14)May 1st, 2004 - MTWA - Lord Frost/"Showtime" Ryan Jeffries/Chris Cruise/Jailbreak/Trent Richards .vs. Big Daddy Kane/Xander Blaze/Richard Mulligan/Demon Driver/Jason Sensation

I pull double-duty once again. Third time out for Xander Blaze. This was an elimination match. Started off as a major clusterf*ck, but when it calmed down it actually got pretty decent. Lord Frost is an AWESOME big man. He moves around really quickly for his size, and I would love to see him in KY. Demon Driver was the first gone, followed by Xander Blaze leaving it as Five-On-Three. Then Chris Cruise and Lord Frost bit the dirt. Next out was Jason Sensation followed by Jailbreak, then me, and then Ryan Jeffries. Big Daddy Kane and Richard Mulligan win. At least as far as I can remember that's how it went.

(15)June 6th, 2004 - TLW - The Naturals (Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas) .vs. The Power Trip (Vic The Bruiser & Trent Richards)

This is the first meeting between the four of us. For the first time in quite awhile I was pretty nervous going in. I know of the four, I'm the weak link, so I knew going in I was going to have to do all I could to keep up in this one. The match was very solid, and I was proud to be part of it. Late in the match it breaks out into an all-out brawl. And somewhere in there Chase sneaks in a pin on Vic The Bruiser.

I know I didn't have much to say this time, but expect a nice update after Saturday and Sunday. And with the next update comes matches 16-20 in 2004.

In the next update:

(16)June 20th, 2004 - TLW - Andy Douglas .vs. Trent Richards
(17)June 20th, 2004 - TLW - The Naturals (Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas) .vs. (The Power Trip) Vic The Bruiser & Trent Richards)
(18)July 5th, 2004 - BBW - Trent Richards .vs. Hard Rock Higdon
(19)July 11th, 2004 - TLW - Trent Richards .vs. Rob G. Rock (20)July 18th, 2004 - TLW - "True Talent" Trent Richards .vs. "True Talent" Bobby Shields

Big weekend for TLW, and I can't wait. I hope to see you there.

Today's TLW Show

Just got back in from the TLW show in Big Clifty. It wasn't a bad show, all things considered. Quite a few people didn't show up, which sucked. Vic The Bruiser, Hex & Hailey Hatred, and K Lo all were not able to make the show. Then in the first match, we had a battle royal for a shot at "Prodigy" Jon Rock and the TLW Iron Man Title and Chris Blaze, who was making his TLW debut, was injured badly after being eliminated by Simon Sezz. Chris Blaze, Jamie Morrison, and Damian all made the trip together, so when the ambulance took Chris away, they went with him, causing more changes to the card. From what I've been told, Chris took a bad fall to the floor and SPLIT his left knee cap in half, and one half of his knee cap became severly dislocated. Really nasty looking injury. You hate to see it happen to anyone, and I just hope Chris Blaze can recover from it and get back in the ring ASAP.

After the cancellations, and the three people leaving when Chris got hurt, the locker room got really small, so we pulled together as best we could and put on what I thought was a pretty solid show. The show opened with Rob G. Rock defeating The Amazing Pooky and Crazy Skillz in a Three-Way. Pretty good match.

Then it was All-Star McStoots against me. This match felt great, and what crowd was there seemed to really be into it. Awesome finishing sequence so All-Star kick out of a powerslam, me kick out of a Angle Slam, All-Star kick out of an Ace Crusher, and me get my foot on the rope after a Top Rope DDT. Finish All-Star leapfrogged me, and I (supposedly, if you ask the fans) dropped a chain behind him. Ref saw it and got on to All-Star. They argued. Then I drilled him with a Yakuza Kick and some fans THOUGHT I held his tights, but of course I didn't. From inside the ring this match felt really good, and the fans seemed happy with it.

Main Event saw Simon Sezz fight to a 20 Minute Time Limit Draw with "Prodigy" Jon Rock. Fans demanded five more minutes, and they got it. About two minutes in Jon Rock low-blowed Simon and the ref saw it. Simon wins, Jon Rock keeps the belt. Yay for him. He's happy, I'm happy, we're all just happy. Jon Rock really impressed me in this one going 22 minutes with Simon Sezz, and keeping up. Kudos to Prodigy.

When it comes to wrestling, it's really hard to put on the show you've been advertising exactly as it's advertised, and today was a prime example of that. I've been told Vic called and cancelled for personal reasons, and that's as far as I'm going into that. If Vic wants people to know, he'll tell them himself. Hex & Hailey, I didn't get a chance to talk to them, but I'm sure their reason was a good one as well. K Lo... K Lo just didn't want to get beat up by me again. Yeah... that's it.

TLW really has a good show going on, but I can't get it through the heads of anyone running the show exactly how important advertising is. Not only that, I get to the building today a few hours early as usual to work out and everything, and the ring isn't even being worked on. The building hadn't been cleaned out from the auction the night before. And I understand that TLW isn't being charged rent to use the building, but an agreement is an agreement nonetheless. Thanks to the building being in shambles when we arrived, the show ended up starting about forty-five minutes late. I know most indy shows start late, but forty-five minutes is just ridiculous. I've never been embarrassed to be a part of any show I've ever been a part of, but today was pushing it. Big time. And I hate feeling that way. But if the advertising doesn't pick up, and the building doesn't start looking better, and the ring isn't up several hours before the show, nothing is ever going to change. And like I said, TLW has a good thing going on.

Now with matches 6-10 in 2004 for me.

(6) TLW - The DEA (Crazy Skillz/"Outlaw" Myke Madd/Low Income) .vs. "Prodigy" Jon Rock/Hard Rock Higdon/Trent Richards
February 15th, 2004

This match was basically so Skillz and Prodigy could get their hands on one another. For a six man, this was pretty decent. We controlled most of the way, and in the end it broke down into an all-out brawl leading to a No Contest. Fun little match.

(7) TLW - Simon Sezz .vs. Trent Richards
March 14th, 2004

I'd been looking forward to working Simon Sezz for a long time. I've known him for years, but never had the opportunity to work him. For a first meeting, I don't think this could have went any better than it did. I know it's sad, but I can't remember for sure if Simon was the Ironman Champion at this time or not, but either way we went to a 15 Minute Time Limit draw. I was VERY pleased with this match, but Simon is VERY hard to keep up with.

(8) NEPW - "The Real Deal" Derrick Neal .vs. Trent Richards
March 14th, 2004

This was my first time in the ring with Derrick Neal and I was looking forward to it. Not a bad match by any means, but I think we were both off just a little in this one. Joey Houston was the ref, for what reason I still do not know, and he was being a little idiot in the ring. I won with a DVD that some people think followed an illegal low blow. But we all know I don't cheat.

(9) NEPW - Derrick Neal & Kid Dynamite .vs. Jailbreak & Trent Richards
March 14th, 2004

My second NEPW show and my second time pulling double-duty in NEPW. We set this match up by me running in on the match between Kid Dynamite and Jailbreak. It was a lot of fun. We cuffed Dynamite to the bottom rope, and when I went for the Frog Splash he shook the ropes, causing me to crotch myself, and then Derrick Neal pinned Jailbreak. Solid tag match. A lot of fun.

(10) TLW - Simon Sezz .vs. Trent Richards
April 4, 2004

Second TLW show in a row that I worked Simon Sezz. This one was probably more crisp and fluid than our first match. Equally as solid, and Simon is fricken over with the TLW crowd. I remember him chopping the hell out of me in this one, and he ended up winning it by countering a back body drop into a backslide for the pin. Simon's great. Nothing bad to say about him, at all.

Next Update:

(11)NEPW - April 4th, 2004 - Trent Richards .vs. Nigel McGuiness
(12)MTWA - MTWA Cruiserweight Title Match - April 17th, 2004 - Trent Richards (Champion) .vs. JB Thunder
(13)MTWA - May 1st, 2004 - Trent Richards .vs. Xander Blaze
(14)MTWA - May 1st, 2004 - Lord Frost/"Showtime" Ryan Jeffries/Chris Cruise/Jailbreak/Trent Richards .vs. Big Daddy Kane/Xander Blaze/Robert Mulligan/Demon Driver/Jason Sensation
(15)TLW - June 6th, 2004 - The Naturals .vs. Vic The Bruiser & Trent Richards

<lj:music>"Getting Away With Murder" by Papa Roach</lj:music>

In a few days I'll post more of my results from 2004, but I'm still working on compiling that list. I'm having trouble finding some of the dates of my MTWA shows in Tennesee. So I thought I'd post my opinions on the promotions I've worked for in 2004. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything either. In any post. So here goes. I've worked for BBW, TLW, MTWA, and NEPW this year, so here are my opinions on each of those feds.

BBW - The major league of independent wrestling in Kentucky. If you want to become the best in Kentucky, you have to knock BBW off the throne, because they are the best KY has to offer right now. More shows, in more towns, than anyone else in the state. Plus with a roster that has everyone from veterans like Mike Smaples, Vic The Bruiser, and Tracey Smothers along with a crop of great young talent like JC Bailey and Simon Sezz you know you have what it takes to put together stellar shows each time out. Joe Bailey calls himself the hardest working promoter in the business, and I don't see how anyone can deny him that. I've known Joe for years and he's treated me with nothing but respect. I've appreciated and enjoyed every booking I've had with BBW, and I wish my work schedule would ease up so I could work for BBW more often. Great group of guys. Great locker room. And I am really digging Billy Black as the champ, and a feud between Vic The Bruiser and Steve Marino is one I would like to see.

TLW - I have a soft spot for TLW, but it doesn't mean that I don't have anything bad to say about TLW. TLW has a solid core of guys working for them. Vic, Jon Rock, K Lo, Simon, and a few others. And TLW also isn't afraid to bring in some of the higher priced guys like Nigel McGuiness, Chris Hero, and The Naturals. Some people look down on this saying that TLW should build their own guys rather than bringing in established guys. But doesn't TLW need to get noticed too? With guys like Vic, Hero, Nigel, and The Naturals coming in, people pay attention to that kind of stuff. I just wish TLW advertised a lot more, and a lot better, because the adveritising TLW does is quite sad. Crowds would be much bigger if they papered towns better, and done a better job promoting the product all around. Plus letting a referee ref in a baby blue t-shirt is pathetic. can we put a stop to that, please?

MTWA - This promotion is based in Tennessee and basically runs towns all over Middle Tennessee. I've worked with them since 2003 and have worked about 7 or 8 shows. The locker room here is pretty calm and relaxed, and they have some really dedicated guys working from them. There are a few there that only show up from time to time that the promotion really needs to be able to depend on. But you can tell which guys in MTWA have the heart. Ryan Jeffries and Lord Frost are cool as hell in my book and I would like to see them come to KY more often. I have nothing bad to say about MTWA really... but they could update their site more often. mtwa.8m.com

NEPW - My mom always taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. But my mom isn't proofreading this :-P, so here goes. NEPW had a ton of potential, but I don't think there was much effort put into it. NEPW was using a lot of the better talent from the area such as Vic The Bruiser, Ty Blade, Devon Day (Ty and Devon are a GREAT tag team), JC Bailey, Simon Sezz, and they even brought Nigel in for a show. This show had bad location, a terrible ring, and they used a radio dj as a ring announcer, and he didn't know ANYTHING about wrestling. NEPW's big problem though was not knowing who to use, how, and when. You've got Vic The Bruiser in your locker room, and you're giving your big push to a young guy, still wet behind the ears. I like Joey Houston and everything, he's a good guy.. and he stayed with me and Jailbreak after a show for 2 1/2 hours waiting for a guy to come and unlock Jailbreak's car... so I have no beef with him. But Joey wasn't as ready to put on a show as he thought he was, and it showed the three shows I worked. If Joey starts back up I'll be the first to wish him the best of luck, but I hope he learned something from his first time at the helm. I don't know who he'll be bringing in, and I'd love to give it a second chance, but I want to be able to know for sure that the effort is there this time around.

Open and honest. That's me. If I offend anyone with my posts, let me know about it here or email me at truetalent@k105.net I know when an indy worker speaks his mind, he usually catches a lot of flack. It's not my intention to do that, but if I do, let me know.

These first two posts are back-to-back, I know. It's because I created a Live Journal elsewhere because this site was down, so I'm transferring the posts here. Anyway...

Alright, I'm going to start posting the results to all of my matches in 2004. Five matches per post. I'll post as often as I can. At the end of the year, I'll post quick results of each match in one post, just as a reminder. I've had the privelige of working a lot of really talented workers this past year, and I've probably improved more in 2004 than I have any other year I've wrestled. I would like to thank everyone I've stepped in the ring with so far this year. Here are my first five matches of 2004.

(1) TLW - TLW Heavyweight Title Match - Vic The Bruiser (Champion) .vs. Trent Richards
January 4th, 2004

My first match of 2004, and easily my most memorable. Why? Because I've never had the piss beaten out of me like this before. Vic... well he didn't hold back. At last count he chopped me 61 times to the chest, and 12 to the back in this match. 73 chops from Vic The Bruiser in ONE MATCH, and I took each and every one like a man. I hope I never have to do it again, but it was a hell of an experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Obviously I ended up losing this one, even though I hit him with his belt. How I lost escapes my mind at the moment though.

(2) NEPW - Battle Royal
January 4th, 2004

Just a few hours after having my chest turned into minced meat by Vic The Bruiser, I get to be in a Battle Royal. A CHOP HAPPY Battle Royal. My chest was way beyond numb so I didn't feel the chops much. Thanks Vic. I ended up fourth in the Battle Royal, and if I'm not mistaken the winner was "The Real Deal" Derrick Neal. Not bad for a Battle Royal.

(3) NEPW - JB Thunder .vs. The Youth (Trent Richards & Hard Rock Higdon)
January 4th, 2004

My third match of the day. This was supposed to be The Youth .vs. HNIC (JB Thunder & Apollo) but for some reason Apollo didn't show up. Match was better because of it if you ask me. Not bad at all for a HandiCap Match. The Youth get the win, how? I'm not sure.

(4) TLW - Chris Hero w/ Alison Danger .vs. Trent Richards
January 18th, 2004

Anyone who wonders what all the fuss is about with Chris Hero needs to order some tapes, sit back, and enjoy. Hero is an awesome worker, and it was an honor to climb in the ring with him. Alison Danger accompanied Hero to the ring, but eventually turned on him to join forces with me. Smart girl. We had a pretty solid back and forth match. Hero wins by submission with the Hangman's Clutch. Crowd got on me big for tapping out. leading to....

(5) TLW - "Outlaw" Myke Madd .vs. Trent Richards
February 1st, 2004

I was in dire need of a win after losing two high profile matches back-to-back to Vic and Hero. Outlaw was my easy win. I beat the snot out of him for several minutes, hurting the man's knee badly. I then locked on the Figure Four Leglock, and the man was in tears. I smacked the mat to add pressure to the lock, and the ref called ME for taping. I lose, by submission, while holding a guy in the Figure Four?! What gives? The ref, Harold, got his though. Serves him right. Bastard.

So there we go. My first five matches of 2004. In my next update..

(6)The DEA .vs. Trent Richards, Hard Rock Higdon, and "Prodigy" Jon Rock. (TLW)
(7)Simon Sezz .vs. Trent Richards I (TLW)
(8)Derrick Neal .vs. Trent Richards (NEPW)
(9)Derrick Neal & Kid Dynamite .vs. Jailbreak & Trent Richards (NEPW)
(10)Simon Sezz .vs. Trent Richards II (TLW)

Well, I finally decided to get myself one of these online live journal thingies. I've never had one of these things so if the first couple entries are a big bore, just do what I do, hope they get better. I've finally started working on my site again, and one thing I plan on doing is putting up quick results for all my matches this year. Look for longer, more detailed results in upcoming entries, five matches at a time. Off the top of my
head, this year alone I can remember matches with Chris Hero, Nigel McGuiness, The Naturals (Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas), and others. I don't know what you people expect me to write about, so you can email me any suggestions you have at truetalent@k105.net Let me know what you want to read about. I'll do my best to touch on any and all subjects that interest you.

Current Song - "Bubble Toes" by Jack Johnson
Current Mood - All Typed Out
